The novel takes place immediately after EFLA.

EFLA which expands on the Deathduel in New Vegas, then settle down with

I'm glad you liked it! What did you like best? Least? Commentary? :)

Most important of all, however... was the character *true*? That was our
greatest concern that we not warp Snake into some sort of caricature or
have him qct in a manner the cinematic Snake would not have done.
