That's the correct movie you have.
POD was shot in B&W by Carpenter for artistic reasons.
The dancing scene you saw was the beginning of the film, where the Prince of
Darkness was watching his private dancers dance for him.
The film features Donald Pleasance as the Prince of Darkness, a bad guy who
does evil.
His foe is Jack Burton, a truck driver who is once again assisting his
friends Wang and Egg Chen, in fighting evil.
They gather together in a church, with is run by the Prince of Darkness, who
is masquerading as a catholic preist in order to deceive people into
thinking he is good, when he's really evil.
The Prince of Darkness lures all these people to the church where a
container of toxic green goo is kept whirling around in a glass container -
this will squirt out and posess whoever drinks any of it, and when enough
people are posessed it will have enough power to open a gateway to the
Netherworld in which the Devil or super-devil can step through, and start a
killing spree which will wipe out most of mankind.
Jack Burton't not about to let this happen, so he throws his knife at the
mirror just as the superdevil is about to step out, saving the world.
Burton turns to Donald Pleasance's character, who has still managed to
conceal his identity as the Prince of Darkness, and Burton asks, "Was that
the Devil?", to which Pleasance replies, "As a matter of fact.....it was.".
The Prince of Darkness, knowing his attempt to bring the superdevil to Earth
has failed, drives off to who-knows-where, knowing that he has to start over
again, to somehow bring the superdevil to Earth, but that it will likely
take decades.
Jack Burton and friends drive north toward San Fransisco in Burton's truck
the Pork Chop Express, laughing and hamming it up, unaware that one of the
zombies that squirt toxic green-goo out of their mouths is holding on to the
back of the truck, laughing..... (cut to John-Carpenter-synthesized
music)..ende.
Hey all,
I just rented John Carpenter's "Prince of Darkness," and was pressing
buttons on my remote to test whether or not it had batteries. Well, to
make a long story short, I suddenly jumped into this odd
black-and-white film, which featured...err, dancing, and all sorts of
other things. I haven't watched the movie yet, but I'd be surprised if
this were a part of it. Anybody know what this is?
